NEET UG 2024 Result: NTA’s New Grace Marks Policy Explained, Grace Marks Given To Make Up For Loss Of Exam Time – Details Inside

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday announced that the NEET UG 2024 aspirants who fell short of time during the exam have been given grace marks. As many as 67 candidates had secured NEET All India Rank (AIR) 1 with a percentile score of 99.997129. The result of NEET 2024 was declared on Tuesday.

The NTA stated, “NTA received few representations and Court Cases from the candidates of NEET (UG) 2024 raising concern of loss of time during the examination on 05.05.2024. Such cases/representations were examined by NTA, and the Normalisation formula, which has been devised and adopted by the Hon’ble Apex Court vide its Judgment dated 13.06.2018, was implemented to address the loss of time faced by the candidates of NEET (UG) 2024”.

“The loss of examination time was cross verified, and such candidates were awarded grace marks. So, the candidate’s marks can be 718 or 719 also,” the NTA explained.

The clarification comes in response to several such candidates raising concerns over removing category-wise NEET toppers’ marks for the scheduled caste (SC) category in the latest NEET result notification. Clarification was also sought on scores of 718 and 719.

According to the correction key, four marks will be awarded for correct answers, and one will be cut for wrong ones. So 720 is considered total marks, and the second highest is supposed to be 716. NEET scorecards of candidates who scored 718 and 719 were shared widely on social media.

NEET Paper Leak 2024 Days before the single-largest national medical entrance examination, a video featuring a masked man making sensational claims regarding the mastermind behind the BPSC TRE 3 exam paper leak, who may also leak the NEET UG questions, has been making rounds on social media. However, there was no official confirmation or clarification from the NTA regarding this. Later, the testing agency called it “baseless allegations”.

NEET Irregularities Some students said that the NEET result 2024 notification had details on marks obtained by candidates in each category. However, it was later removed. They also argued that the last-minute awarding of grace marks is “unfair”. Students have started demanding “the Apex Court order dated 13.06.2018” based on which the grace marks were awarded.

NEET Toppers 2024 The NEET aspirants for 2024 have also cast doubts regarding the toppers with the same sequence of roll numbers getting the highest marks in the NEET exam. “8 #NEET Candidates with the same sequence starting with 2307010168, 333, 403, 460, 178, 037, 186, 198 topped from the same center,” an aspirant wrote on X.
