CBSE 2024 Board Exam Update

CBSE 2024 Board Exam Update: No Postponement Confirmed, Official Clarification Issued

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a strong warning against a fake notice circulated on social media platforms claiming to postpone Class 12 board exams due to farmer protests. In a tweet on microblogging portal X under the hashtag #CBSEFACTCHECK, the board clarified that the notice is false and misleading. Fake CBSE notice allegedly claims Class 12 board exams have been postponed due to problems arising from farmers’ protests.

It is suggested that students facing difficulties in taking the exam can request a change in their exam center or dates. The notice outlines a detailed process for making such requests.
However, CBSE immediately rejected the fake notice, and insisted that no such decision has been taken by the board. Students and stakeholders are urged not to pay attention to fabricated information and rely only on the official announcements of CBSE.

This misinformation highlights the challenges posed by the spread of fake news on social media platforms. CBSE, along with other educational boards, has been cautious in dealing with misinformation, especially amid the uncertainties created by the farmer protests and other external factors.

The Board reiterated its commitment to transparent and timely communication regarding any changes or updates related to the Board examinations. It urged students to stay updated through the official CBSE website and verified social media channels for authentic information.

As the Board strives to maintain the integrity of the examination process, it advises students to avoid sharing unverified information and verify the authenticity of any notice or announcement before believing or circulating it.

The PDF file circulated on social media platforms contains a fake notice. It is written in the letter,

“It has come to the notice of the Board that due to the farmers’ protest the Board is facing problems. Students are unable to attend schools, therefore, Class XII board examinations will be conducted as per the government guidelines.” has been postponed. You will be notified as soon as new dates become available.
In view of the problem, CBSE has decided to postpone the dates of the examination centres. The procedure for making a request in this regard will be as follows:

(i) It is mandatory that the concerned students should be issued roll number for the examination by CBSE.

(ii) The student concerned shall request the School to change the theory examination date or practical examination date or both (as the case may be). While making the request, the student shall also inform the school and the city (state) where the student would like to appear for the theory exam/practical.

(III) Based on the request received by the school from the student, the school should login to the school account on the CBSE website and submit the student details, i.e., student name, roll number, change required city/country, etc.
(iv) No change in the choice of city from where the student will appear in the examination will be allowed after the request is submitted by the school.

(v) If there is a need for change in the dates of both theory exam center and practical, both will be changed in one city only. Two separate centres, i.e. one for theory and one for practical, will not be allowed.”
