CBSE Class 10 English Answer Key 2024: Marking Scheme

Before checking the Class 10 English Answer Key candidates must understand the English exam marking scheme. Check the section-wise marks distribution below:

  • There is no internal option in Section A. It consists of two questions each with 10 multiple choice/one-word answers.
  • Section B focuses specifically on writing and grammar. Question 3 will consist of 12 one mark questions, out of which only 10 will be required to be answered.
  • Questions 4 and 5 are writing-based inquiries with internal choice. The maximum number of words allowed is 100-120, each worth 5 marks.
  • Section C is based on the CBSE Class 10 Literature syllabus. Questions 6 and 7 are five MCQs of one mark each.
  • Question 8 consists of five short answer questions of three marks each, out of which only four are to be attempted.
  • Question 9 consists of three short-answer style questions of three marks each, only two of which are to be attempted.
  • Questions 10 and 11 should be answered in long answer type questions and should carry 6 marks each.
